    The Federation of Allied Systems was decimated during the Vong War, and under the leadership of now Darth Varya, the refugees of the FAS and its remnant military set up a new Federation on Dromund Kaas. They are currently rebuilding and managing massive losses taken during the war, and are trying to claim resources to help.

    Don't even think of coming to Byss. It's been secluded forever and the events of the Dark Empire books didn't take place in our timeline. Luke and Leia have never been here. There's still the HSN and all of the things that are depicted to be here at Byss though. If you go searching, you'll die a horrible death and not even know about it. If you go to the other worlds, you'll see a facade of singularly independent worlds going about their business with trying to remain independent. You will still see things promoting the Consolidated Empire, but if you ask about them, they'll be up for nostalgia purposes only.

    The invasion of the Vong exposed the many rifts that had slowly been forming in the foundation of the New Republic. Even after the first attacks on Dubrillion and other worlds, many Senators failed to understand or even acknowledge the threat posed by this new invasion force. Many pointed out the Ssi Ruuvi, and how easily they had been routed. By the time the scope of the danger posed by the Vong was fully understood, the galaxy was in flames.

    Reforming as the New Galactic Alliance, in homage to the Rebel Alliance from which many of its chief leaders hailed and grew to fame, the NGA retreated to distant worlds and waged guerilla warfare against the Vong. Many Jedi answered the call of this New Rebel Alliance, and a sort of militaristic cell was formed on the foundations of the original New Galactic Republic, on the far off world of Almania.

    Like most militaristic societies, the Mandalorians were hit hard during the Vong War. A warrior race they took to the challenge of fighting the Vong. In the end the Mandalore Sector was decimated, with even the great planet of Mandalore itself a poisoned wasteland. Many of the Mandalorian people were forced to relocate to other planets in the Mandalore Sector, as such there is a great unrest among the people. With many of the true Mandalorian people's leaders having been killed during the War, many other groups have tried to claim their Sector, some gaining a partial successfulness. Yet the underlying people are still revolting against their "imposed" leaders, a fledgling group of young Mandalorians calling themselves "Warriors of the Shadow" - a direct homage to the first group of Mandalorians have since waged a guerrilla campaign to restore the Mandalorian people on their original path. A Mandalore of the Mandalorians, by the Mandalorians.
